Magneti Marelli and Don Bosco Network:
Rescuing people from starvation

Mr. Jiten Panna lives with his wife and four children at Samuguri Kalatukra village in Tinsukia district of Assam. He was a daily wager in a tea estate while his wife was a homemaker. Jiten earned Rs. 250 per day. The tea estates stopped functioning during the COVID 19 lockdown, leading to a total loss of income for the family. To make matters worse, Jiten became sick and was admitted to the hospital.

Their meagre savings were wiped out by his treatment costs and they had absolutely no money to buy rations for the family. The parents borrowed rice from others to feed their children twice a day while they themselves starved. They did not know what to do and to whom to turn.

After two days of this situation, the Don Bosco Network-Bosconet and Magneti Marelli aid arrived in their lives, literally as a godsend. The grocery kit brought them immense relief, saving them from real starvation for the subsequent weeks. Mr. Jiten Panna and his family are very grateful to Magneti Marelli and Bosconet for saving them during their time of dire need. This aid saved 1500 such families from starvation during the lockdown in Assam.
