Promoting Sustainable Choices
Climate change, global warming, rising sea levels are causing drought and other harmful severe weather events. Don Bosco Network’s vision has always been in alignment with the environmental actions outlined by the Sustainable Development Goals.
It actively promotes many of those green initiatives:
- Greening campuses with clean renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, promoting afforestation and green cover
- Greening training, updated green skills and promoting jobs in green sectors, e-learning
- Efficient natural resource management through rainwater harvesting, waste management etc.
With the generous support of Jugend Eine Welt (JEW), a new 45-kilowatt solar power plant on the grid and rainwater collectors got installed at SPCI Don Bosco House, New Delhi.
It is one vital step towards promoting green energy and reducing carbon footprints.
The Don Bosco Network in India comprises of 11 Planning and Development Organisations (PDOs), each dedicated to the development of the Salesian provinces they serve. The Don Bosco network is spread across 29 states and 354 NGOs, reaching more than 10 lakh people.
