The fear of not understanding a single word can silence a child’s confidence long before they speak. In many rural classrooms, this quiet struggle is common, and English often becomes the biggest barrier.
This was the reality for Ayush Anil Gaikwad, a young Grade 4 student from Pimpalgaon Ujjaini. He found certain subjects overwhelming, especially English, and often avoided reading or writing because the lessons felt unfamiliar and intimidating. With limited learning support at home, his fear grew and began affecting his overall performance.
His journey took a hopeful turn when he joined the Remedial Education and Development (READ) classes conducted by Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra. In this safe and encouraging space, he experienced patient teaching, steady guidance, and a learning environment where mistakes were welcomed. With steady effort, he began coming regularly, participating with confidence, and noticing his ability to understand the subjects that once intimidated him.
The transformation reached his home as well. His parents watched with pride as their once-hesitant son grew more confident each day. His progress even encouraged his younger sister to join the same classes. Through the remedial classes, he also received essential learning materials and snacks, helping him stay focused and motivated.
Today, he approaches English with confidence instead of fear. The subject he once avoided now gives him strength and hope for a brighter future. His story shows how compassionate educational support can rebuild confidence and open doors for children in rural communities.
