Harnessing CSR grants for NGO Effectiveness for Social Impact: A Strategic Workshop on CSR: Compliances and Strategies in Hyderabad

In a significant move towards building the capacity of network partners and building the NGO sector's approach to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Bosconet- Don Bosco Network organised a CSR workshop in collaboration with Don Bosco LiFE, (DBL) Resource Wing of Bosco Seva Kendra and Lakshyaa at the Don Bosco Provincial House, Hyderabad on March 20, 2024.

The workshop, led by Mr. Nikhil Pant of Lakshya, attracted 65 leaders from various walks of life across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. It aimed to shed light on the vital aspects of CSR compliances, strategies, and the mobilisation of CSR funds for impactful NGO work.

The inauguration by Rev. Fr Thomas Santiagu, sdb Provincial, Hyderabad set a tone of urgency and importance towards CSR's role in the sustainability and effectiveness of NGO initiatives.

Fr Santhanam Ubagaram, the director of Bosconet, emphasised on the potential and the need to enhance the competence of the Don Bosco Network and other like minded networks to access the CSR partnership program.

Fr Noel Maddhichetty, Director of DBL highlighted the need for networking to multiply the impact of youth development among the like minded NGOs to accessing effectively the CSR partnership program in the twin Telugu states.

CSR Compliances, Strategies and Fundraising:
Led by Mr. Nikhil Pant, a seasoned expert in CSR, the workshop delved into the intricacies of CSR. Mr. Pant's engaging demeanour invited participants to share their perspectives on CSR, sparking a lively exchange of ideas. From the notion of social responsibility to its role in nation-building, participants offered diverse insights, laying the foundation for an enriching discussion. He gave deep insights into the latest CSR compliances which all the NGOs should be aware of before attempting the CSR grants.

The "Corporate Social Responsibility: Compliances and Strategies” workshop emerged as a resounding success, delving deep into the intricacies of CSR laws, obligations, and the discernible gap between mandated CSR obligations and the actual expenditure by corporations, advocating for a more strategic and focused approach towards CSR funding.

This pivotal event, organised by Bosconet highlighted the untapped potential of CSR in driving sustainable development and reinforced the collective commitment of participants to explore innovative strategies for leveraging CSR resources for the greater societal good.

The Way Forward:
The workshop wrapped up with the commitment to continue to network and to attend the monthly capacity building programs which are planned by the organisers. The participants left home promising to step forward in the journey towards more accountable and impactful CSR engagement in the NGO sector.
