Skill Training for Marginalised Youth and Women

Limited access to market-relevant skills often restricts income opportunities for youth and women in underserved communities. The project, Skill Training for Marginalised Youth and Women, focused on building practical skills and enabling pathways to self-employment and livelihoods. Implemented in Kolar Gold Fields, Karnataka (KGF) during the period 2023-24, with the support of a corporate donor, Bosconet, trained 140 youth and women, combining vocational training with life skills, financial support, and placement assistance.

Key Interventions & Impact
● Trained 20 youth in Two-Wheeler Mechanic (10-month course)
● Trained 80 women in Tailoring and 40 women in Beautician courses
● Conducted life skills sessions to strengthen confidence and decision-making
● Enabled seed capital support, including sewing machines, vanity kits, andtool kits
● Facilitated job placement support and financial linkages for self-employment
● Achieved 97% course completion across all training programs

Driving Self-Employment and Economic Independence
The program enabled 80% of participants to secure gainful employment or to start self-employment, with many women earning ₹6,000–₹15,000 per month. Access to skills, tools, and financial support strengthened income generation and economic independence.
