
In West Bengal (Tangra, Kolkata), 34 young players were identified with strong potential in hockey but had limited access to structured training and proper facilities. Through this initiative, Promotion of Sports (Hockey) in Rural Areas of West Bengal, Bosconet focused on strengthening training conditions, improving infrastructure, and enabling regular practice and competitive exposure. Implemented in the period 2023-24 by Bosconet in partnership with corporate donor, this effort focused on strengthening training conditions, improving infrastructure, and enabling regular practice and competitive exposure for 14 junior and 20 sub-junior players.

● Prepared and levelled the hockey turf to improve playing conditions
● Formed junior (U-19) and sub-junior (U-16) teams
● Conducted regular practice sessions to build skills and discipline
● Enabled participation in state-level and national-level competitions
● Organised local tournaments to provide match exposure
● Engaged 34 players across age categories
Building Competitive Exposure and Skills
Regular training and improved infrastructure led to better performance, with the team securing runner-up at the Jawaharlal Nehru Hockey Tournament (2023). Six players also progressed to represent Bengal at the national level.
